Dental Pain Consultation

Endodontists are uniquely qualified to help patients who are having pain in their teeth or surrounding structures. A dental pain consultation typically involves a thorough review of your medical and dental history.  Appropriate digital imaging is acquired and a detailed intraoral exam is performed. The exam will usually include several tests to assess the pulpal health of your teeth. With this information, your endodontist will make a diagnosis as to the source of your pain and present treatment options to you.

This consultation is one of the most important parts of your appointment and is a very gratifying part of our profession. Often, a patient will have tremendous pain but will not be able to identify the source. Other times, the patient will point to a particular tooth as the culprit but we will determine that in fact, the pain is coming from a different tooth altogether.  There are also occasions where the pain may not be from teeth at all. Through years of education and experience, we can help solve these challenging diagnostic problems and guide our patients to a treatment plan that resolves pain quickly and efficiently.
